Republic of Fritz Hansen Updates the Grand Prix Chair

Danish furniture brand Republic of Fritz Hansen has updated the iconic Grand Prix chair, first designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1957, by adding wooden legs to the original design.

A Fritz Hansen spokesperson explains, "The attention to detail and the unique design create a bold and exceptional statement that makes the Grand Prix as relevant today as it was 50 years ago."

The chair has been fashioned out of pressure-moulded veneer, coming in either an oak and walnut or colored ash finish. There are options when it comes to the chair's legs as well, with the brand offering chromed steel tube legs (which are stackable) as well as the newer, non-stackable wooden legs. While the steel legs are sleek and polished, the wooden update offers a cozier, homey feel. Finally, the chair can be upholstered in a variety of leathers and fabrics to suit personal tastes.
