Fountain-Controlling Video Games

The 'Granary Squirt' App Turns Fountains into a Game of Snake

Fans of the classic video game "Snake" are in for a treat if they find themselves around the fountains at Granary Square in London, thanks to an app called Granary Squirt.

Taking advantage of the 1,080 fountains and lights at the King's Cross landmark, developers at The Fountain Workshop created Granary Squirt to let smartphone users take control of each individual fountain. The result is a real-life rendition of the old 'Snake' game, with a small line of fountains growing longer and longer by directing the head of the line, or 'snake,' toward various targets.

Up to eight players can point their phones toward the fountains and play Granary Squirt at any given time, with each snake being a different color.

Granary Squirt is available on iTunes and Google play, for anyone in the King's Cross area eager to turn a landmark into their personal plaything.
