The Google+ Project is a Social Extension of Google

It's no secret that Google is the most powerful internet corporation in the world, and the new Google Plus Project is yet another way the company is expanding. The project is headed by Vic Gundotra and Bradley Horowitz, who have been doing a good job at keeping their developments under the radar. Google+ is designed to be the social extension of Google, whereby search engine users can share content, group message and video.

According to Crunch Base, "Each Google+ user can replace his or her standard Google profile which will stream everything that user has shared as well as the +1 content. The +1 button is similar to a Facebook "like"." New features include Circles, Sandbar, Sparks, Huddle, Hangout -- all of which are designed to enhance the online social experience of Google users. Implications - In the past few years, the capabilities and influence of Google have grown far beyond the realm of a simple internet search tool. Now the owner of several Internet business ventures including Netflix and Youtube, Google determines and reads much of what goes on on the Internet. The influence of Google even stretches into advertising and marketing as they sell the vast body of search engine information to corporations who then personalize ads to consumers based on their Internet activity.
