Baby Subscription Services

Good Karma Clothing for Kids Encourages Collaborative Consumption

Babies grow out of clothing like nobody's business. One minute they fit into the little jumper you bought three months ago, and the next? Too tight. Founded by Sharon Schneider, Good Karma Clothing for Kids is a subscription service that encourages collaborative consumption.

How does it work? Every month, for the price of about one brand-new ensemble, you (and your baby) get seven outfits. There are a breadth of bundles that Good Karma Clothing offers including a "Bedtime Bundle," "Basic Bundle," "Boutique Bundle" as well as a smart build-a-wardrobe option.

"I love organic, well-made clothes (buying well-made clothes, furniture and other goods is one way to be 'green'), but as a mom who tries to avoid conspicuous consumption and who wants to raise my kids to be socially responsible, I have often lamented the cost and waste of baby clothes," Schneider says on why she started Good Karma Clothing for Kids.

It seems that collaborative consumption, coupled with scaling back individual consumption, will prove to be the only way to go as future generations will have less and less available resources. On February 15, Schneider will speak at COMMON Pitch NYC (they call it a "pitch-meets-party"), which will ask the question: "What if there’s already enough to go around?"
