SolTech Energy's Glass Roof Tiles Beautify and Heat Your Home

Swedish company SolTech Energy received the ‘Hottest New Material 2010’ award at the North Building Fair for their glass tile roofing system. The featured glass roof tiles are made from ordinary glass and are laid on black nylon canvas and wooden spacers. The air between the spacers heats when the sun shines and is then collected to warm the house.

SolTech glass roof tiles weigh about the same as their clay cousins and should be about the same in price. Time will tell how these glass roof tiles will perform in extreme weather conditions like severe heat or hail.
