Mutated Humans as Art

Lucy and Bart

People, get ready for the future! Lucy and Bart is a collaboration between brilliant artists Lucy McRae and Bart Hess which they describe as an instinctual stalking of fashion, architecture, performance and the body.

They both share a fascination with genetic manipulation and expressions of beauty. But, although their work touches upon these themes of mutation and manipulation, they insist it is not their intention to communicate this.

Their work creates future human shapes, using low–tech prosthetic ways for human enhancement. Look at the Dripping Color piece for example, it is simply blue balloons attached to the fingers and toes that look as if the body is dripping color. While Spring uses a standard packaging carton to create the jumping human.

We present you some of their amazing work in this gallery (top to bottom, left to right): Grow on you#2, Exploded View part 2, Spring, Exploded View part 1, and Dripping Color.
