Gender Fluid Clothing Labels

John Lewis Will Use Gender Neutral Clothes Tags for All Kids' Lines

A major retailer in the United Kingdom will now use gender neutral clothes labelling for all of its kids' clothing. John Lewis has removed gender-identifying tags on its clothing for children -- a move that will please parents who do not want to enforce gender stereotypes on their offspring. John Lewis Head of Childrenswear Caroline Bettis informed the Daily Mail they "want to provide greater choice and variety to our customers, so that the parent or child can choose what they would like to wear."

Their children's collections, both the third party ranges and their own John Lewis line, will carry gender neutral clothes tags reading either 'Boys & Girls' or 'Girls & Boys.' The brand is also designing their own non-gender-specific clothes for kids.
