The Gas Station by Atelier SAD is located in Galanta, Slovakia. Collaborators Pro Global and project management C-Partners have created this structure to resemble a patch of mushrooms. This project was completed in 2011, and stands out like an alien object at night with a glowing top that, when combined with the fungus-like aesthetic, is almost psychedelic.
The disks rest upon three sleek columns, which appear to create a sense of unity between the lower and upper parts. At night, the above lighting illuminates the entire structure, making it highly visible from the highway. Directly behind the structure is the rectangular gas station, and its interior features wood beams that lend to a warm feel.
