Interactive Reading Lamps

The Ganglion Light Controls the Amount of Light That It Lets Through

University student Daniel Kaufman created this interactive reading lamp that adjusts like a camera. The Ganglion uses the lens from an old darkroom to control the amount of light that it lets through.

Kaufman explains on his blog that it first focuses the light emitted from the LED into a directed beam. It then allows the user to adjust the aperture size to brighten or dim the lighting.

Though it doesn't seem like much with its minimalist design, the lamp can shine extremely bright because it contains a lightbulb with 800 lumen. It was originally intended for reading since it has a directional beam of light, but can be used however the consumer desires. It could work well for mood lighting or maybe even filming purposes.
