Redux Competition Imagines Next-Gen Presidential Eco-Abodes

The inspiring campaign of the 44th president has ignited all sorts of possibilities of change, not excluding the prospect of changing the White House itself. Challenging aspiring architects around the world, the White House Redux Competition seeks to design anew the ultimate US architectural symbol. Among the submitted projects is Rediscovery, a dual concept which includes both a main building and a transportation unit.

The White Wing is a helium-powered green zeppelin which incorporates accommodation, lab and storage areas, as well as an Oval Office for the President and his staff--or, by the time the concept is realized, possibly her staff. The ground building features administrative functions, a public exposition area, a lab as well, and of course, a docking station for the presidential eco-airship.

The vision of this White House Redux proposal is to enable the President to be closer to the people, especially in times of crisis such as natural catastrophes. It also aims at promoting worldwide exchange of regenerative technologies and at harboring endangered species--hence all the lads.

The advanced technology of our times allows communication and coordination to be combined effectively with mobility; now more than ever can the President and all political figures really be on the side of the citizens and attend to their concerns, as well as to the concerns of our suffering planet.
