Valentim Quaresma's Latest Line Features Intricate Sculptural Work

Valentim Quaresma, a Portuguese fashion designer, unveiled his freedom-inspired Spring/Summer 2017 series during Lisbon's fashion week -- which is perhaps better known as ModaLisboa.

Many of the pieces look as though they draw from the armor that was worn by gladiators, with sculptural metallic structures adoring the torsos of models who walked the runway. The warrior theme is further shown in the face painting that complemented the ensembles, as well as the flowing pants.

Despite the ancient linkages, the freedom-inspired looks were simultaneously futuristic, making for apparel that verges on post-apocalyptic. Not only do the pieces put forth a powerful aesthetic by utilizing warrior themes, but they also implement a sense of liberty that comes from their overt unconventionality.
