Free Botox For YouTube Posts

Innovative Surgery Promotions

Surgery is a touchy subject, with most people apprehensive about everything from the doctor to the procedure itself. With the help of YouTube, however, future patients could be put at ease.

One doctor on the cutting edge is offering patients a discount if they post a video of their surgery on YouTube along with a link and his credentials. Dr. Emil W. Chynn of Park Avenue Laser hopes positive reviews will help him gain the trust of potential patients.

After their surgeries, Dr. Chynn offers patients personalized DVDs of their Lasek surgery. If they create a positive posting with it, he offers them a choice of $100 off their $5,000 Lasek or a free Botox injection worth $400.

He's not the first to offer something like this.

"Doctors â€" and patients â€" have taken to online video postings with gusto. Type in the word 'Botox' on YouTube and around 2,400 videos pop up. 'Breast augmentation' garners over 2,000; 'Lasik' around 2,000 videos," the New York Times says.

"Some have been produced by marketing companies like Spore Medical or SalemGlobal Internet both of which began offering video packages in the last year, while others have been videotaped and edited by a staff member. (In Dr. Chynn's case, the camera is attached directly to the laser for a you-are-there effect.)"

Bribing patients is a very controversial subject, and much debate has arisen regarding the ethics behind these medical promotions. Regardless of people's view point, it's an interesting phenomenon to monitor, and a neat way to gauge how less traditional industries are embracing modern internet tools.
