Cifa Showed the Importance of Taking Fraud Prevention Measures

In a new campaign, UK company Cifas makes clear the fraud prevention measures that are important for everyday people to take.

Looking to show Millennials how they need to keep their privacy settings secure, Cifas joins with a local coffee shop that encourages patrons to 'Like' their Facebook page in order to get a free hot drink. A number of people do this for the reward, however the barista is connected to a woman who is able to tell her a disturbing amount of information on each person. By the time the barista has made the drinks for the customers, she has all the personal data she needs to commit an act of fraud.

She reveals this to the customers by describing them by the university they attended, their job, birth date, phone number, home address, mother's maiden name and more -- all of which she writes on their take-out cups. With this, Cifas shows that if people aren't careful to take fraud prevention measures, it takes only a matter of minutes for a complete stranger to find out everything they need about them.
