The Fragile Shelter looks like a string of oversized Chinese lanterns that can actually fit humans within its whimsical and welcoming embrace. A stunning temporary winter structure, it provides protection against the elements in style.

Envisioned by Japanese artist and designer Hidemi Nishida, the Fragile Shelter is located deep in the forest surrounding Sapporo, Japan. Also known as the Shukaijo House, it consists of six identical temporary hubs that shelter family and friends with its simple design and translucent walls. Blending quite interestingly with its surroundings, it has no impact on its environment.
