Jewelry Made of Cereal

Kali Arulpragasam Makes 'HUNGER' Jewelry from Grains and Legumes

Kali Arulpragasam designs jewelry from cereal grains and legumes such as rice, corn, wheat, lentils, beans and even edible seeds. The designer first took molds and then cast the solid silver and gold-plated beads used in the jewelry.

The designs have broad appeal because they range from delicate to big and bold. This is a good thing because the jewelry collection, aptly named HUNGER, was created to raise awareness of the current world food crisis. Coupled with the poor economic climate, many people now go hungry because they cannot afford to buy food.

Part of the jewelry sales will go to the UK charity OXFAM.
