Camp Foodie Teaches Children About Cooking and Nutrition

Perhaps one accessible way to instill good eating habits, as well as teach children about nutrition and cooking, is through an interactive food camp. In North America, this is realized through Camp Foodie and the popularity of this method is reinforced as the camp was fully booked.

The food camp ran in three installments, with 20 children in attendance for each. The activation sought to spark curiosity and teach kids basic cooking skills through a plethora of hands-on activities. In addition, the food camp placed particular emphasis on "healthy, local food sources" and nutrition. This part is of immense importance as statistics from Health Canada show that "obesity rates among children and youth [...] have tripled in the past three decades."
