The 'Spector' is a handheld device that works by copying different font types on non-digital surfaces and then translating them to a screen for interactive use.
It was designed by Fiona O’Leary, a graduate student of the Royal College of Art in London, England. In addition to translating font types to a digital medium, the Spector is able to do the same with specific shades of color.
The device captures font types and exact colors and then works with Adobe InDesign to bring them to designers, allowing them to more easily access material for projects. Spector has enough internal memory to allow up to 20 different font types at once, which can then be transferred to a computer at a later time.
