Body-Molded Furniture

Foam Party by Martijn Rigters Uses Flexible and Mass-Produced Techniques

Foam Party by Martijn Rigters is a series of foam seats that take only 15 minutes to produce. Humans are the live models for this project, with the seats formed directly from the shape of one's body.

Rigters is able to crete these seats with such efficiency because of his molding method and mass production techniques. Though the chairs are already extremely customized in that they are literally molded after one's body, the chairs also come in a variety of colors from green, blue, purple,

Martijn Rigters is a design student in the Netherlands studying at the Royal Academy of Art. In April, he produced and presented these chairs at the Salone Internazional del Mobile 2012 in Milan, Italy.
