Flying Time Machines

This Prop Team Created a Life-Sized Flying TARDIS

Flyonix, an ambitious prop team from Devon, England, designed a full sized, fully functioning flying TARDIS. The seven-foot tall time machine prop was built out of polystyrene and fitted with 12 remote controlled propellers and motors to facilitate flight. The prop was modeled after the famous machine seen on the hit Sci-Fi show Doctor Who.

Though ultimately blown astray by high winds and smashed to pieces on the ground, the flying TARDIS did achieve flight, soaring high into the sky until the winds hit. This prop, a labor of love from a group of dedicated fans, is a great testament to the fan base. The TARDIS is a symbol of the show, and to have a full sized one that flies, even for just a few minutes, is something to celebrate.
