Florae, a Beautiful Installation, Adorns the Chester Subway Station

A large-scale floral mosaic captures the attention of commuters who pass through Toronto's Chester subway station. Back in 2016, the Toronto Transit Commission held an international juried competition to source artworks for the site. The winner, Katherine Harvey, presented stunning designs of native plants and flours found in the station's neighborhood. It just so happens, that the location is near the Don Valley Ravine where numerous "indigenous vegetation flourishes."

The floral mosaic is simply named Florae and it is supplemented by one color digital print on the windows above the station’s main entrance. Both artwork interventions are sure to delight individuals on a daily basis.

Florae was one of the Top 100 finalists for the prestigious CODAaward. Public voting for the People's Choice Award is open from June 20th to June 30th.
