The 'Flare' Headlight Can Report Road Issues to Authorities

A British innovator and product design student has invented a high-tech new bicycle headlight that doesn't just give you a crystal-clear view of the road in dark conditions, but also helps improve cycling conditions for everyone by making it easier than ever for you to report potholes and road surface problems.

Jake Thompson's Flare bicycle headlight is fitted with a trio of buttons that cyclists can press to report potholes, traffic dangers or hazardous intersections respectively. When a button is pressed, the Flare headlight sends the relevant data to a companion smartphone app, which can then upload it to a website for municipal authorities as well as other Flare users to view.

By making it easier for cyclists to report road and traffic problems, this bicycle headlight has the potential to help improve cycling conditions for all.
