Amazon Dash replenishment is coming to the Brita filtered water pitcher, creating a $45 pitcher that orders its own replacement filters.
The wifi-enabled smart product has a built-in monitor that examines how much water has gone through the Brita filtration system. When the filter nears the end of its life at about two months and 40 gallons of lead-free water, the filtered water pitcher will automatically place an order using Amazon Dash for new Brita filters.
This is not Amazon's first foray into an Internet of Things self-replenishing item, as they previously put out a cartridge-replacing printer. This shows promise for other kitchen gadgets with replaceable elements as well as the smart home in general.
