Unobtainable Body Parodies

Buzzfeed Shows Men Trying to Fit into the Ideal Female Body Image

'The Try Guys' of Buzzfeed took aim at the ridiculous female body image expectations that are promoted by the media by attempting to recreate edited images of celebrities. This includes recreations of iconic photos taken of women like Madonna, Kim Kardashian, Victoria's Secret models and many more.

The campaign follows a previous effort that portrayed the men transformed into their ideal body shapes using Photoshop. In order to show how warped female body image representation has become, the men have their figures transformed to reflect that of the stars, with Buzzfeed also showing the before and after photos of the celebrities to further explain its point.

In addition to showing how wide spread the use of Photoshop is in the media, the video also drives a message that works to combat sexist body shaming that can result from the unobtainable standards that are so often presented to the public.
