The Faster Horses Poster Series Celebrates Landmark Inventions

Designed by Los Angeles-based artist Michael Mulvey, the Faster Horses poster series commemorates innovators throughout history who had the brilliance and ambition to bring their imaginations to life by creating revolutionary technology.

The name for the poster series was inspired by the Henry Ford statement, "If I had asked my customers what they wanted they would have said a faster horse." Although Mulvey admits he could have included thousands of great inventions from the past century, he decided to narrow his choice to seven groundbreaking achievements -- the Model T car, the light bulb, the phonograph, the geodesic dome, the Macintosh personal computer, the iPod and the iPhone.

Although some might look at the tail end of the list and think this is an Apple ad campaign in disguise, Mulvey explains that in addition to showcasing innovations that would be recognizable to a mass audience, he wanted to include items that he had a personal connection with.

The Faster Horses poster series is a Kickstarter funded project that's striving to reach a goal of $9,000 in order to finance things like printing costs and shipping supplies.
