Cinematic Fast Food Commercials

These McDonald's Ads are Parodies of Famous Scenes in Film

McDonald's has released a new ad campaign that spoofs famous scenes in film. The campaign was released during the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The commercials celebrate iconic movie scenes by featuring an uncharacteristic star -- a coffee bean.

2015 marks the fast food chain's fourth year in a row as the festival's official coffee sponsor. This year however, McDonald's has incorporated a much more interactive method of viewing the commercials. In partnering with app Shazam, McDonald's has created an invisible watermark on hot coffee sleeves which can be scanned by a smartphone. Once scanned, users will be led to a series of commercials that parody famous scenes in film, all featuring its coffee bean.

Some parodies include "Beanheart" (Braveheart) and "The Grinding" (The Shining). McDonald's wanted to celebrate TIFF's 40th anniversary in a special way and create a fun activity that incorporates a the love for cinema and coffee together.
