Quebecois photographer Ulric Collette has created a stunning and eerie new photo series by combining family member faces to create hybrid photos of mashed-up people. Collette simply took an image of two related individuals, then created a composite image featuring the dominant traits from both individuals.
Some of Collette's resulting photos are uncanny. His photos end up looking like a single person with a strange, two-part hairstyle. This demonstrates just how incredible genetics can be. By proving that these relatives are related by more than just blood, Collette has brought about a topical and current issue.
However, while some of his photos depict flawless mashups, others become a little eerie and strange. This usually occurs when there is a large age gap between the two related subjects. Because of this age gap, the resulting composite image depicts a face that is a little more asymmetrical than usual, with half of the face slanting downwards.
Collette's incredible photo series has been featured all over the world, most recently at the Cannes Film Festival -- and it's no surprise. This incredibly nostalgic and loving photo series depicts the one thing that people would die for: their family.
