The Facebook donate button has recently launched and allows Facebook users to donate easily to their favorite charities without leaving the site.
The Donate Now button has only been rolled out on 19 different non-profit Facebook pages, though it is expected that other charities will be able to get the Facebook donate button once further testing is done; a sign up page is currently available for charities who would like to be put on the waiting list. To donate all you do is click the Donate Now button, choose the amount you'd like to pay and pick your method of payment.
It does seem that Facebook's aim isn't completely altruistic, as the Donate Button allows Facebook to collect your credit card information. Having more ways to donate, however, is arguably a good thing.
