'Sea/See/Saw' is an Art Piece Made Up of 14,000 Eyeglass Lenses

A kinetic sculpture in Istanbul has been created using thousands of used eyeglass lenses. This work of art is both visually appealing and vision-aiding as it raises awareness about the services provided by the Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre (CLERC), where the recycled lenses came from. This center recycles as many lenses as possible to provide glasses for people around the world who are vision-impaired. Those used in this project were unusable for varying reasons.

Featured on the front of the Pera Museum in Istanbul, the art installation looks like a giant shimmering surface, mimicking the effect of reflected light on the surface of the sea. The Sea/See/Saw installation was designed by Caitlind Brown and Wayne Garrett. Attracting the interest of those with impaired vision or 20/20, this compelling installation speaks to creative artists, avid recyclers or every day eyeglass wearers alike.
