Google Maps Has Now Mapped Some of the Most Remote Mountains in the World

Just when you thought it was the coolest thing in the world that Google Maps provided a Street View of your house, the intrepid explorers of Google have now managed to 3D map some of the most exotic locales in the world.

The adventuring crew led by Dan Fredinburg has brought Google’s cameras to places like Mount Everest’s base camp as well as Aconcagua (South America), Kilimanjaro (Africa) and Mount Elbrus (Europe). Since seeing some of these exotic locales in person requires an iron constitution and strong survival instincts, it’s quite the accomplishment that these locations are in full 3D through a web browser. Armchair explorers can see the Street View of the exotic locales through Google Maps right now.

The crew led by Fredinburg are committed to exploring more exotic locales for browser-based exploration.
