These Lululemon Shirts Are Made With Biologically Derived Nylon

Yoga and workout gear giant Lululemon Athletica has partnered up with none other than sustainable materials supplier Genomatica, Inc. to launch a fashionable and eco-friendly exercise shirt for women who want to be able to combine high-performance attributes with an environmentally conscious ethos.

The 'Swiftly Tech Short Sleeve' exercise shirt is made out of a special plant-based nylon that Lululemon points out was the result of a process in which plant sugars were fermented into the chemical process typically associated with the creation of nylon. These short-sleeve shirts are crafted out of 50 percent biologically-derived nylon, 40 percent recycled polyester and three percent elastane, with nearly a third of the elastane portion made out of plant-based materials.

Priced at $68, the 'Swiftly Tech Short Sleeve' exercise shirt is a fabulous example of how eco-friendly materials and high-performance workout technology can coalesce.
