Volvo's Excellence Child Seat Concept Places the Baby Seat Up Front

Volvo's Excellence Child Seat Concept replaces the front passenger seat -- often left unoccupied in chauffeured cars when a parent travels with a small child -- with a rear-facing baby seat that places the baby in full view of the passenger in the rear seat. Not only will this concept help give more access to the infant, it will also provide added storage space.

Child seats are usually mounted in the back seat and face forwards, meaning that no passengers directly face the baby. Not only does this require adults to twist around or lean in from the side to access the baby, it also places infants at greater risk of injury.

The Excellence Child Seat Concept is turning around a long-accepted child seat design, and is improving infant safety in doing so.
