Paris-based architecture and design studio Septembre Architecture has constructed a small wooden cabin called Ermitage deep in the woods on the island of Trossö in Sweden. As a response to the desire of a couple who spend their summers on the island just west of Sweden, the tiny cabin is the perfect refuge from the urban city.
Despite its size, the cabin is fitted with a bedroom and a sauna, both featuring a window to look out into the surroundings. Inspired by the client's request to make as minimal of an impact to nature, the wooden cabin evokes the feeling of being completely immersed in nature.
The cabin's facade and flooring were made from Swedish spruce. The interior walls were made of plywood. To enter the sauna, the entrance is found on the side of the cabin.
