Recent national studies have revealed the effects of climate change on the nation - and California is facing a near record drought. We recently sat down with the California State Bear to talk more about his campaign to educate Californians and beyond on energy saving techniques for the summer.

So you've recently taken a break from posting up in our California State flag. How come?
Well, I love my job, but I also love talking to fellow Californian’s about managing water and energy use, so I just decided to take a break and pursue that passion of mine a little.
What is happening in California right now to bring about this urgency to save energy?
We’re facing a historic drought, and if we don’t all do our part to join in and help California then our Golden State might start looking a little brown. Yuck.

You can learn all sorts of tools and tips to help the Golden State stay that way. It’s really pretty easy. The people at Energy Upgrade California are the experts, and they’ve taught me a lot.
What are some energy saving techniques Californians can begin right now?
Simple things like remembering to turn off the lights when you leave a room, or only running your water when you’re really using it. And why stop there? Upgrading to energy efficient appliances, or looking into a home energy audit are other great ways to help our state.
Why should Californians go into summer with a more energy-saving mindset?
Between the mountains, the beaches, and the endless sun, our state shows us a lot of love. Now, when facing an unprecedented drought I think it’s important for Californians to start showing some love back to the state by practicing better energy management. If we all do our part we can definitely help the Golden State Stay Golden.
