Energy from Manure

Biogas Technology Uses Cow Poop to Create Power

One singular cow can excrete up to 120 pounds of manure a day, so what better way to put that poop to use than to create energy from manure? That's the plan--or at least, a plan for the future. Cow poop first has to be turned into a type of biofuel called biogas, which can then power Internet servers as energy.

This particular type of energy "could one day account for three percent of the country's electricity usage," which would prove to be both economical and environmentally smart. Hewlett-Packard is hot on this energy from manure scheme, looking to cows as a future power source.
