Emma Houlston's Illustrated China Plates Feature Comic Tips on Comportment

This series of English bone china plates was inspired by the scenes of the Harrow Ladies Luncheon Club from John Betjemen's film "Metroland" (1970). I adore the sketchbook-like illustrations and comical statements on etiquette at the bottom of each plate.

We all probably experienced our parents and/or grandparents giving us their two cents about proper table manners as kids. These dishes are a funny and adorable reminder of these classic childhood moments. They are also not-so-subtle reminders to keep our mouths closed when we eat!

Emma Houlston freelances for design agencies and is based in London.
