Amazon Purchased a Large Fleet of Electric Delivery Trucks From Rivian

Amazon recently purchased over 100,000 electric delivery trucks from Rivian. The announcement was made by Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos, and it will be part of Amazons' larger effort to be carbon neutral by the year 2040. Amazon refers to its sustainability goals as a "Climate Pledge," the company has also indicated that it will act in other ways to reduce its carbon footprint, including utilizing solar energy.

Amazon's purchase of the electric delivery trucks is the single largest purchase of Rivian trucks to date. The trucks are scheduled to begin delivery operations in 2021.

The e-commerce giant has also previously invested resources into Rivian, which amounted to $700 million. Amazon’s interest in Rivian did not stop there, as it also announced that it would provide an additional $350 million into the company.
