Elementary Everyday Object Renderings

El Grio Crafts Simplistic Yet Alluring Still Life Artworks

Art doesn’t need to have the complexity of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel to be good, and illustrator El Grio demonstrates that point with his super simplistic renderings of everyday objects. Avoiding commonly used items for still life rendering, El Grio illustrates electric organs, SLRs, grandfather clocks, vases, cigarette packs and more. He depicts these things in very elementary visuals, forgoing elements like lighting and value in favor of style, which these images have in spades. His portfolio is infinitely interesting to browse through just to see his interpretations of objects that are often taken for granted.

Not much is known about El Grio, though his Flickr portfolio has images ranging in the hundreds. He’s also dabbled in graffiti work, though most of his attention is directed at still life nowadays.
