Functional Mushroom Company 'Meati' Debuted a New Jerky Snack

The new Jerky from Eat Meati is a vegan snack made from the company’s patented MushroomRoot technology, which uses mycelium strains optimized for food production. The jerky is shelf-stable and comes in three flavors: Original, Peppered, and Sweet Chile. Each serving of jerky provides seven grams of complete protein, dietary fiber, and micronutrients such as vitamins B2, B3, B5, B9, iron, potassium, choline, copper, zinc and magnesium.

The jerky is currently available only through the online Meati Marketplace, where customers can order a three-flavor bundle for $39, including shipping. The bundle contains three pouches of jerky, each holding 2.2 oz or two servings. The company plans to use the feedback from the direct-to-consumer launch to inform its future commercialization strategy. Meati also offers an Innovation Kitchen Subscription for $169 per month, which includes 16 servings of its core products such as steaks and cutlets, as well as at least one new product each month.
