Xiaomi is working to add earthquake warnings for its smartphones and TV boxes. The company made the announcement at its Mi Developer event, which it holds each year. The earthquake warning system will be able to inform users a few seconds before an earthquake occurs. At the conference, Xiaomi stated that the feature will be the only one of its kind in the world.
The company initially released the feature in the Sichuan province, however it will continue to expand it to all users in China.
Xiaomi's earthquake warning system could give users the vital time needed to prepare for an incoming earthquake. Sending the notifications nationwide could have a significant impact on the population's ability to prepare for earthquakes.
