Raw Earth Brick Buildings

Atelier Masomi Designs a Five-Building Development in Niger

Raw earth bricks were envisioned as a key construction material for the design of the Niamey Cultural Center. Located in the capital of Niger, the important development is headed by architectural firm Atelier Masomi.

The network of buildings will serve an important purpose for the public in the West African country. The development will boast a cafe, a gallery, multiple community facilities, a library, and a performance auditorium. The project is also intended to help unify the city which is split into two by a valley — while the indigenous African communities live on one side, the French population occupies the other. Because the raw earth brick buildings will occupy some space in the valley, it is safe to say that the cultural center has the opportunity for bringing these entities together.
