The all-natural method requires the skin of 12 onions, mostly red (but a few yellow skins are fine), along with vinegar, olive oil and 12 hard-boiled eggs. Boil, then simmer, the onion skins in a stainless steel saucepan, before straining and soaking the eggs. The yellow skins will dye a light tan color, while the red ones will create a richer brown tone.
For added effect, add parsley leaves into the mix (tied them into stockings) -- the eggs will absorb the impression of the herbs, leaving a cool design.
