DSSI Elementary School's recent renovation encourages active learning and is the work of architect Daniel Valle. The project is located in the heart of Seoul, South Korea and gives young students an opportunity to engage in play and interact with their pears while indoors, something that many scholastic spaces lack.
Bringing outdoor recess activities inside, DSSI Elementary school will now feature rotational wall units which will be modular and transformative. For example, the school boasts two classrooms which can be separated or transformed into one, larger space when needed.
Architect Daniel Valle's rotational walls are not only functional -- featuring built-in storage spaces for classroom supplies -- but also boast textured acoustic panels on opposite sides. These exterior hallway panels are visually striking, while encouraging play and blocking unwanted noise.
