Satirical Spinning Tops

The Hannah Rothstein Dr. Dreidel Piece Merges Humor with Chanukah

San Francisco-based artist Hannah Rothstein has put a creative spin on Chanukah through her "Dr. Dreidel." The piece is much like traditional dreidels but with a creative twist, seen in sketches of rapper Dr. Dre that are imprinted on each side of the spinning top.

Rothstein used laser-etching to produce her satirical Dr. Dre drawings. As dreidel games involve both winning and losing, the faces depicted are happy, dead-pan, depressed and smug, reflective of all possible outcomes that can come of a typical game.

For the moment, Rothstein's Dr. Dreidel isn't available for sale. Nonetheless, fans of her work can appreciate the design by visiting her website. Even if one has yet to turn a dreidel, the concept is entertaining for all, and especially so for fans of Dr. Dre.
