Andres Serrano's 'Don't Text and Die' Campaign is Saving Lives on the Road

Andres Serrano is a world renowned photographer whose gripping and sometimes disturbing photographs are well revered for being able to easily capture people's attention while also delivering important messages and Serrano's latest work on the Don't Text and Drive campaign is a great example of his eye for morose detail being put to good use.

Now that mobile devices capable of sending text messages are an industry standard, the alarming rate of car accidents and deaths caused by people who have been texting has unfortunately risen as well.

With every one in four accidents caused by cellphones, it's artists and activists like Serrano and the Don't Text and Die campaign that are trying to put an end to these deaths caused by carelessness.

In the Don't Text and Die campaign, Serrano captures his subject's, who are in fact checking their cell phones, with dead stares on their faces. By doing this, Serrano bridges the gap of disbelief many have about the danger in texting while driving.
