Drone-Controlling Headsets

The Newly Launched DJI Goggles Let You Fly a Drone with Your Head

Last year DJI Goggles, a set of goggles that allowed your eyes to see what the camera on a DJI drone saw, were revealed. Now the company has launched the breathtaking new tech in full, with a pre-sale price of $449. That may sound like a lot of cash, but the DJI Goggles do some unique things. In addition to letting the wearer see what the drone does the goggles can also control the camera with a tilt of the head.

The DJI Goggles also pair with the newly developed Intelligent Flight mode. In this mode drones fly forward without turning to simulate flight. When this mode is engaged with the goggles on it offers users the chance to pilot the drone using just their head. There's a good chance the DJI Goggles catch on with professional drone operators and serious amateurs. At $449 the mass appeal of such tech could be limited. That being said it's likely that DJI (and its competitors) are already working on cheaper drone goggles.
