This Prosthetic Implant is Helping a Disabled Cat Get Around

Vincent is a disabled cat who was abandoned as a kitten, and found lacking any hind legs. However, this cat has since been fitted with a high-tech titanium-alloy prosthetic implant that was implanted by a veterinary orthopedic surgeon. The prosthetic could help other felines regian mobility as well.

The fully customized prosthetics were developed by BioMedtrix, a company that specializes in creating custom joint and hip replacement prosthetics for animals. Since wearing the implant, Vincent has been able to build up bone and muscle strength.

The greatness of this prosthetic implant isn't just the fact that it helped one disabled cat regain mobility, but that the underlying technology could be used to help more animals in the future. Veterinary surgeon Dr. Mary Bergh says that this particular prosthetic could pave the way towards creating even more practical prosthetics for animals in the future.
