Roving Biped Robots

Digit by Agility Robotics Climbs and Carries Heavy Objects with Ease

Digit by Agility Robotics is an impressive biped robot that boasts the ability to seamlessly carry out actions like climbing steps and simultaneously carry heavy items up to 40lbs. As Jonathan Hurst, co-founder of Agility Robotics, revealed to Digital Trends, "Digit can localize itself within a known mapped space, and the user can identify a package to go get and bring back, and Digit can autonomously go retrieve the package off a shelf or the floor, avoid obstacles and navigate through a building, and bring the package back."

In one sense, the video helps to show off the capabilities of Digit, and in another, it spotlights the fact that Agility Robotics is expanding its outdoor test area so that robots can roam and demonstrate their higher levels of autonomy.
