Lucy is the name of a unique robot with a simple purpose in life: to naturally illuminate homes with daylighting. Dr. Diva Tommei, who holds a PhD in Bioinformatics and co-founded Solenica, says: "At Solenica, we believe that if the sun is shining, we should never have to turn the lights on."
The robot boasts a spherical form that houses a motorized mirror that is used to direct natural light into the home. While there is no installation required, the smart bot is able to remember where to direct the sunlight and keep it there as the sun's position moves. In addition to offering a way to keep electrical costs down, natural light also plays a vital role in one's health and productivity.
Currently, Lucy is the subject of a crowdfunding campaign that has already been incredibly successful in collecting its initial goals.
