David Byrnes' NYC Sculptures

Artistic bicycle racks like these by David Byrne are what make living in the city so exciting.

Number one: People can, and do, ride bikes to get from point A to point B
Number two: artists show their creativity by designing racks that rock.

David Byrne expected all kinds of red tape when he approached New York City. The response? Build them, and NYC will use them.

Byrne is a boomer that makes things happen. He worked with the PaceWildenstein Gallery to make the street art with the agreement that Pace could sell them after a year being in use.

The racks are located from Manhattan to Riverside Park - exactly where Byrne asked PaceWildenstein to put them.
