Check Out This Unbelievable Public Art Proposal by Dave Rittinger

Brooklyn-based artist and designer Dave Rittinger proposes a beautifully childish sculpture for a public art installation in North Philadelphia. Entitled the 'Color Pencil Tree,' the sculpture looks exactly how it sounds as it blends nature with contemporary design. According to the artist's website his, "works that often tap into the psyche of objects or places, [give] them power to subvert reality in their physical environments."

The proposal for the project states that the trees would keep their natural trunk while Rittinger re-conceptualized the branches into appearing to be colored drawing tools.

Rittinger developed an affinity for the outdoors while being raised in the pine barrens of New Jersey. This has since provided a strong inspiration in his artistic work and the Color Pencil Tree is no exception. The intent of Dave Rittinger's project was to repurpose trees that were intended for removal with the vibrant shades of the pencils reviving them with life.
